World Food Day is Celebrated in Burdur

The date of founding of Food and Agriculture Organization of The United Nations (FAO), October 16 is celebrated as World Food Day. Within World Food Day activities, a theme set by the FAO is conducted every year. This event draws attention to the great importance in the fight against global hunger and malnutrition. This year's theme is Rural and it is defined as social protection for increasing welfare and agriculture.

In the scope of Provincial Directorate program; a stand in the Cumhuriyet Square was prepared and information of projects about develeopment of rural areas were given to public. Besides leaflets about reliable food and care issues were given. Institution of Agriculture and Rural Development Support personnel and Students from Food Community in Mehmet Akif Ersoy University gave their support by attending the event. “Alo Gıda 174” line was introduced with green apple symbol.

Provincial Director of Food Agriculture and Livestock Ş.Fırat ERKAL explained that; “By the activities 
organized by provincial and district personnel, we aid to highlight the importance of social protection, to create public awareness and to encourage broad participation in discussions covers inclusion of social protection to agricultural development policies.”
